Blake and Mackenzie

Hi

I'm trying to find information about Blake and Mackenzie, who were lithographic printers in Liverpool, possibly specialising in horticultural printing such as seed catalogues and seed pockets. They may also have sold or manufactured horticultural sundries.

Many thanks

Bridget

  1. Thank you for getting in touch. I have always wondered who Mr Blake and Mr Mackenzie were. I have a copy of my Grandfather's obituary which states he "had been with the firm for seventy years and was one of the founders of it's Glasgow establishment. Later he assisted in the establishment of the present business in Islington.". My Grandfather's name was Charles Newton Murray and he died in 1939, aged 82.

  2. I am also interested in Blake and Mackenzie as my father -John Claude Murray – was the company director. I visited it as a child. If we make contact perhaps we can share our knowledge of the company. Gillian Liebenberg

  3. If you have any more information about the firm that could give me a clue I did not know it was founded in Glasgow but all my family were from Glasgow. When did it move to liverpool etc. I have an old invoice dated 1939 from Liverpool .
