Lime Street

Where did Lime Street name originate? Has it anything to do with the trees along the street.

  1. Hello Pete,
the name derives from the Lime kilns on Lime Street. They where situated on the site where Lime Street Station is today. Across the road from the kilns was the Liverpool Infirmary and they petitioned the town council to have the kilns relocated because of the ill effects on patients health.
