Fulwood House, Aigburth Road

Hello,
Does anyone know anything about Fulwood House, Aigburth Road, Toxteth. I think it was an Institute for poor children. Also I'd like to know if children from here were sent to work on farms in Canada. It is on the 1891 census. Also do you know where the Records are?
Thanks

Linda

  1. Hello Linda,
I had a opportunity to check the details of Fulwood House in a library. I could not find any reference to Fulwood House in the Gores and Kellys directories only Fulwood Lodge in Fulwood Park. Aigburth Road is in Aigburth not in Toxteth. Do you have the full address of the property?

  2. Dear Rob,
Thank you for your comments. The address on the 1891 census is Fulwood House, Toxteth Park, Aigburth Road, Liverpool. Parish St Michaels in the Hamlet. There is another word that looks like Pontewied?

  6. hi I wonder if anyone could help me find a childrens home in Aigburth liverpool I was born in Walton Hospital 1955 and I believe I was then put into a home in Aigburth until my mum was well enough to have me home.
My sister-in-law at the time use to get the 61 bus from bootle and visit me every sunday. She cannot remember the name of the home or where it was but said that once off the bus it was there.
I would like to find out if there's anyway I could find records my being there it could have been a church of england home.
    Thanks
    Sue
