I have 2 queries
1 Do you have a photo/info.on the obelisk in Springfield Park in Knotty Ash?
2 Any ideas about a shop, currently empty, in Bold Street. I think it is no 69, the upper floors are painted white with blue decoratons?

ReplyDeleteThe monument in Springfield Park is Nelson Memorial the other being in Exchange Flags.
The obelisk commemorates Nelson. A plaque carries the original wording: "Sacred to the memory of the illustrious NELSON, who gloriously fell in defence of his country, and to whose skill and valour BRITONS are indebted for domestic security and tranquil enjoyment of the produce of their industry".
I think the Blue Art Deco building in Bold Street was originally an upmarket high fashion store, but I will try and find out some more information

ReplyDeleteif you are refering to the building on the corner of Bold Street and Newington that is now Oxfam, I believe it was originally a Car Sales showroom.

The blue and white art deco building on Bold street was formerly Coopers Food EMporium and most recently Microzine. It is still there and available to let.
