A query from New Zealand, I have 6 first edition 1 inch to the mile OS maps of Denbigh area dated around 1854 with an oval “Webb & Hunt Liverpool” stamp.
The only information I can find is that they were possibly book binders and publishers, I do not think they printed the maps, as they are all blind stamped with OS department stamps,(4 different designs).
For your interest, these maps were drawn in the Tower of London overseen by Colonel Colby.
Any information would be of interest.

Hello Rhod,
ReplyDeleteWebb and Hunt were Liverpool based publishers/bookbinders in the 1850s-1860s. I do not have any information relating to Denbigh (N Wales) maps
