I recently acquired a naval telescope marked as "Cameron" Sth Castle St Liverpool "day or night"
I would be most interested in finding out more about this and the history of it's maker.
I am told the telescope is circa 1850's
Thankyou for any help you can give me on this matter
Cheers Chris Fitzgerald
Hello
ReplyDeleteJ.R. CAMERON, 54 South Castle Street; 14 South Castle Street near the Customs House (1852); both in Liverpool. He worked from this address from 1851-1872. A number of marine instrument makers traded from this area around the site of the old castle of Liverpool including the well known Liverpool marine instrument makers J Sewill, of South Castle Street, Liverpool and Cornhill, London
