Gomersall/Gomersal House and Moirs Wavertree

Hello,

I am trying to locate or find out if there was a house that might have been a boarding house in the Wavertree area in the 1900s, between 1901 and 1907 called Gomersall/Gomersal House. I think that my grandmother was employed as a house keeper there.

Also location of a grocers shop, Moirs also in the Wavertree area.

I hope you can help.

Thank you.

  1. Hello Pam,

using Kellys Directory for 1900 I found a reference to Gomersall House in Hunters Lane, Wavertree Liverpool. It refers to John Edwards, Gentleman residing at the address, but there is no reference to it being a Boarding House.

  2. Thank you Rob.

I think my grandmother might have been employed as a housekeeper there. A pity there isn't a convenient census.

I know where she was in 1901 and 1911 she was married and lived in Eastdale Road. Her name was Lily Bradshaw.

I need to get/look at her marriage certificate. Wedding at St Mary's church Wavertree.

I'm a learner at this family history stuff but am hooked and feel lilke a detective.
